Haudenosaunee Baskets

Most of the above baskets were made using black ash splints and sweet grass. Some baskets have dyed splints. I made the porcupine quill and birch bark basket located front right with the red trillium (flower) on top. Front: From left to right: Miniature berry baskets, Quahog shell, quill basket. Second row: L to R: unripe large berry basket, green and white basket, large raspberry basket, and large sewing basket made by (Mary Adams Mohawk Basket Maker). Back row: Large pack basket made by my Uncle Abe Gray (Mohawk Basket Maker). Hanging on the Basket is a bag I made with a beaded woodland design. |
